Colombia’s Gaming Revenue Declines in January
Colombias gaming revenue declined in the first month of the year, as per the regulatory body, Coljuegos. The total revenue in January reached 4.48 trillion Colombian pesos (equivalent to $1.15 billion), marking a 7.4% decrease from the preceding month. However, this figure represents a substantial increase compared to the slightly over 2.50 trillion Colombian pesos in revenue recorded in January 2021.
Physical gaming venues accounted for 2.71 trillion Colombian pesos of the total revenue, exhibiting a 70.3% year-over-year growth, while online gaming contributed the remaining 1.70 trillion Colombian pesos, demonstrating an 82.5% increase.
Delving deeper into the online data, internet sports betting generated the highest revenue in January, reaching 869.93 billion Colombian pesos. Online slots contributed 339.27 billion Colombian pesos, while live casinos brought in 247.67 billion Colombian pesos. The remaining 247.19 billion Colombian pesos stemmed from a diverse range of online games, encompassing roulette, poker, and blackjack.
SuperAstro, a lottery-style game, recorded sales of 50.41 billion Colombian pesos.
The Colombian government collected a total of 60.01 billion Colombian pesos in taxes from the gambling sector, compared to slightly over 50 billion Colombian pesos in January 2021.
