Mississippi Sports Betting Revenue Declines in March
The Mississippi sports betting market experienced a decline in March, as reported by the state’s gaming authority.
Overall player expenditure for the month reached $47.9 million, a decrease from $50.5 million in March of the previous year, but an increase from $40.9 million in February.
Statewide sports betting earnings amounted to $4.1 million, a decrease from $5.2 million in the corresponding period of the prior year, but an increase from $1.9 million in February 2022.
Coastal casinos continued to dominate in both revenue and handle. They generated a total of $2.2 million in revenue in March, with bettors wagering $31.1 million.
Central casinos generated $1.5 million in revenue from a total of $9.3 million in consumer bets, while northern casinos processed $7.5 million in wagers for $413,306 in revenue during the month.
Basketball was the most popular betting category across all regions, attracting $22.7 million in wagers at coastal casinos, $3.8 million at central venues and $5.5 million at northern locations.
The state’s casinos recorded a total monthly hold rate of 8.4%, a decrease from the previous year.
