Chapter 27: Representative Dina Titus Talks About the Gaming Group and the GRIT Act
As the Representative for Nevada’s 1st Congressional District and co-leader of the Congressional Gaming Group, she is a key industry supporter at the national level.

Addressing the Excise Tax Issue
Representative Titus is also leading the effort to overturn the 0.25% federal excise tax on sports wagering transactions.

This money is placed into the general fund, not used to combat illegal gambling. She asks, why not lower the tax and allow legal businesses to better compete with offshore operators by offering more attractive products?

GRIT is Not the Solution
However, the Representative opposes the Gambling Addiction Recovery, Investment, and Treatment Act (GRIT Act), which seeks to reallocate this tax to fund problem gambling treatment.

She told the Global Politics Series that the bill’s sponsors did not consult with the Gaming Group and disregarded state legislation, which almost always mandates funding for problem gambling.

Representative Titus discusses broadening gaming, combating the illicit market, and enhancing player safeguards. He delves into these topics comprehensively in the complete program.
